Erin Riley is an innocent, naive woman who has only made love with one man, her high school sweet-heart. When that man is sent into combat for two years, she stays faithful with the help of her trusty vibrator, gaining a more adventurous spirit. But the stress of being separated gets to her and she gains 40 pounds, affecting her self-esteem. Especially when she gets a 'Dear Jane' letter from her overseas fiancé after sending him a recent picture.

Patrick has seen too much during the last two years to go back to the way things were. He just can't burden his fiancée with his darker moods and urges. Even though it kills what is left of his spirit, he writes her an email to break things off. That way, when he returns home he won't have to see her again, allowing her to get on with her life.

Erin is hurt that Patrick has dumped her, but needs to have some kind of closure. She moves into his apartment and surprises him when he comes home. Patrick loves Erin's new voluptuous shape, but he can't let her know that - he is trying to be unselfish. When Erin desperately seduces him, he can't resist…especially when she becomes the perfect submissive. How can Erin convince Patrick that she can handle his dark needs?

Ms. Andrews is a talented writer, making this book an enjoyable read. I was disappointed in the development of the characters; something seemed lacking to me and I did not connect with them. Even with the static characterization flaws, Patrick and Erin's story was delightful. And oh, mama! The sex scenes will have you reaching for an iced beverage and a fan. Not for the faint of heart, this book contains anal sex, bondage, and spanking.
